We are looking for an Analytics Intern to join the global Commercial Insurance team. In this role, you will:

Solve high impact business problems with a particular focus on Financial Lines Underwriting, for example: understanding claims drivers, portfolio optimization or improving our risk selection,

Be part of a fast-paced entrepreneurially minded global team, which is daring to challenge the status quo,

Developing and driving adoption of our main global Financial Lines Underwriting analytical product suite,

Excelling on your technical skills by working with internal and external experts.

What you will do

As an Analytics Intern, your main responsibilities will involve:

Working on high impact projects with end-to-end responsibility for their success

Experimenting with the right cloud-based technology to solve specific business problems

Building applications loved by internal and external users: from implementing proof of concepts to full-scale solutions; from portfolio management applications used by senior Zurich executives to Applications Programming Interfaces embedded into the core Underwriting processes

Coordinating directly with product managers and application users globally (with particular focus on adoption)

What you bring

As an intern in the Global Commercial Insurance Analytics Team, you will likely be:

very familiar with Commercial Financial Lines business in Europe (with focus on Director’s Officers, Professional Indemnity, Cyber)

knowledge of insurance IT landscape and typical reporting suites

coding skills in python and R

experienced in project management

highly organized and attentive to detail, with an ability to multi-task with strong trouble-shooting and analytical skills

a good teamplayer and keen to create value in a team

interpersonal skills and capable of fostering positive working relationships with colleagues at all organizational levels

a currently matriculated student in a bachelor’s course or equivalent

experienced in a similar organizational coordination role

a good communicator in both written and verbal exchanges

able to work across different regions and time-zones to achieve both group and individual goals

an effective user of standard software such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and standard Office tools

proactive, customer-focused and responsible

fluent in written and spoken English and German (other languages would be of advantage)
