The Position

The Opportunity

Within Roche Diagnostics, the Molecular Lab Customer Area focus is delivering innovative solutions and providing clinical insights, and medically actionable insights, leading to improved outcomes that change people's lives. We bring together the diagnostic power of molecular and sequencing technologies. In the PCR Systems Life Cycle Team, we manage a comprehensive portfolio of instrumentation and integrated molecular solutions to multiply value for healthcare through streamlining molecular testing. Our flagship products include highly automated PCR analyzers such as the proven cobas 5800/6800/8800 analyser family.

As a Project Leader for Molecular Lab Customer Area, you are a member of the PCR Systems Lifecycle Leadership Team. You are accountable for the availability of products under the scope of the solution (including Design Control -DCC- projects) on time, on cost, on quality and according to product requirements. At the same time, you are supporting the Molecular Lab Customer Area to deliver on its overarching priorities contributing to a holistic customer solution approach and cultural transformation.

You are a key interface in translating customer and business needs, as well as strategy on several levels into clear priorities for the Project Team (PT), so as to guide the focus of the Project Team’s experts and Squads. As such, you will closely work with your cross-functional Project team, the corresponding Functional Partners who link to Lifecycle Teams (LCTs), as well as collaborate across Networks to deliver comprehensive and successful Customer Solutions.

For our projects, we leverage both internal and external competency, and as such you drive external collaboration and manage partnerships.

Job Facts

Drive business results and customer value

  • Be accountable for product/solution development, launch & post-launch review under the scope of the product/solution - on time, on cost, on quality and according to product requirements

  • Approve budgets, timelines, risk mitigation plans, resources – related to all projects under the scope of the solution (Global and support functions, etc.)

  • Manage external partners contributing to the solution development and on market

  • Contribute to strategy development & culture transformation for the Life Cycle Team.

  • Build on priorities from Customer Areas, define common objectives and KPIs for the Network

Advance the work of RDS, making tradeoffs and breaking silos

  • Collaborate & manage relationship & communication with other Project Leaders and Project Teams on total business solutions.

  • Break down silos and improve working effectiveness as an ‘integrator’ across the organization as needed; in particular through collaboration with other Networks Leaders and stakeholders to resolve escalated bottlenecks and dependencies, as well as, rebalance work & help in line with greater strategic priorities

Who You Are

We are looking for a professional with a Scientific, Software or Engineering background, business acumen, and experience in software, system development and automation technology desired who is familiar with agile development methods and profound understanding of the critical elements in a project set-up to be effective in utilizing these methodology.

As Project Leader, PCR Systems, you will bring relevant experience in leading large projects or programs within complex Diagnostics product development including product launches and experience in working with external partners on product development, defining contract, negotiating work packages and set-up effective collaboration interfaces

You will bring:

  • High degree of subject matter expertise:

    • Technical background, business acumen, and experience in infectious diseases, automation solutions and/or IT solutions desired.

    • Deep understanding of the Diagnostics industry, IVD, lifecycle & development process and global trends.

    • Profound experience with external partner management, including effective negotiation and conflict resolution

    • Multi-year experience in Software development and Software development project leadership is desired

  • Senior management skills

    • Proven ability to lead, inspire and motivate teams to make a big impact and deliver their best every day.

    • Consistent record of building collaborative relationships with peers and teams, helping cross-functional teams address strategic opportunities and solve problems across the organization.

    • Profound experience in managing and resolving conflicts whilst leading the team up to deliver according the committed goals.

    • Evidence of strong strategic thinking, communication, planning and organizational skills required, e.g., through experience successfully leading and executing strategic initiatives.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including clear, succinct and timely communication and proven ability to foster and build important relationships with partners, customers and key stakeholders.

    • Ability to navigate within a changing organization, maintaining objectivity, respect for differences of opinion, fairness, open communication and consensus building skills.

Location: You will be based in the Rotkreuz site

As this position is a global role, international business travel will be required depending upon the ongoing business project activities.
