Your responsibilities
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Department (EN). You will join the EN-EL-EPM section to work on Research Facility 2.0 (RF 2.0), a European Project in collaboration with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The scope of the project is to set guidelines for the design of future sustainable particle accelerators: CERN's contribution focus on the electrical network supplying the facilities.
First, an analysis on the existing CERN's electrical network will be performed, and will contribute to the next stages of the project: the preparation of its digital twin by KIT and the assessment of the benefits of new technologies (energy storage, renewable power generation, FACTS) through real time simulations. The selected candidate will join the project team, composed by members of CERN, KIT and other stakeholders, and will contribute to the successful completion of the above-mentioned scope.

What we offer
About us
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
We are on a Quest. A Journey into discovery like no other. Bring your expertise to our unique work and develop your knowledge and skills at pace. Join world-class subject matter experts on unique projects, in a Quest for greater knowledge and deeper understanding.
