Scientist - Semiconductor Packaging 100% (f/m/d)

Empower the Future with Hitachi Energy: Join us as a (Senior) Scientist in Power Semiconductor Packaging. We are looking for a passionate and proficient scientist to join us in developing novel power semiconductor packaging technologies as well as innovative power module designs at our Swiss Research Center. As part of our dynamic, motivated, and creative team, you’ll bridge theory and application, developing, testing, and validating novel methods and technologies to facilitate the energy transition.

Your Responsibilities

  • You make a difference: Spearhead research and development on novel and innovative concepts for the next generations of power semiconductor modules, in particular based on wide bandgap materials for e-mobility and HVDC applications.

  • You innovate: Bring together advanced performance and reliability testing, simulation and design optimization methods and prototyping in a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment to develop and demonstrate novel packaging concepts for our next generation of high-power semiconductor devices.

  • You take initiative: Collaborate with a global team of researchers and engineers in Hitachi Energy Research and Hitachi Energy business units to identify and solve real-world problems and realize opportunities for further improvements.

  • You connect: Build relationships within the company and actively share your knowledge and expertise. Interact with local and global external partners including universities, start-ups, and vendors.

  • You communicate: Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports.

Your Requirements

  • PhD in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related field.

  • Hands-on experience working in testing laboratories, in a cleanroom or in assembly of delicate components.

  • Motivation to develop tools for electrical loss optimization and thermal performance of power modules for different applications and mission profiles.

  • Demonstrated experience using simulation tools, in particular for modeling of electromagnetic and/or thermal behavior of complex systems are considered as a strong plus.

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

At Hitachi Energy, we believe in the power of diversity and the potential of every person. We are committed creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. We invite you to apply and join us in shaping a sustainable future.
