Global Heavy Lift, Transport & Logistics Manager - Transformers (f/m/d)


As Global Heavy Lift Manager, Transport & Logistics Manager you are responsible for communicating and driving the implementation of the Trade, Transport & Logistics (TT&L) strategy within the organization in close alignment and collaboration with interfacing functions. You will act as change-agent and support the successful rollout and seamless implementation of new TT&L projects, tools, and processes and drive the implementation of best practices to ensure Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and service optimization. Furthermore you will deliver on the KPI’s and drive the continuous improvement of processes, tools and services by leading the regional Heavy Lift Transportation teams across the Transformers organization.

This role can be based anywhere in Europe close to a Hitachi Energy location.

Your responsibilities

Heavy Lift (H/L) Transportation Management

  • Lead the global Heavy Lift Transportation Management process governance for Hitachi Energy and drive operational excellence by ensuring full compliance with HSE regulations and the Risk Control Notification (RCN) process requirements under the Marine Cargo Risk Management Program

  • Within Transformers ensure safe and compliant end-to-end transportation planning & execution from order intake until contractual handover to customer, analyze deviations and ensure corrective actions implemented

General Cargo Transportation Management

  • Drive compliance with global policies, instructions, processes and initiatives in the region as per the defined governance model until full transition to the TT&L Center of Expertise (CoE) organization

  • Monitor CoE Service performance for CoE covered General Cargo Operations and drive continuous improvement in collaboration with the TT&L CoE

  • Ensure that the TT&L requirements of the BU Transformers are understood and met during the roll out of the Center of Expertise (CoE) strategy

Your background

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics Management or Maritime Engineering or equivalent knowledge or experience

  • More than 15 years of experience in International Transportation Management and/or Freight Forwarding incl. Heavy Lift operations

    (Knowledge of transportation methods such as mode of transports and design for transportation in heavy lift projects, costs, and benefits and knowledge of transportation rules and regulations)

  • Fluent in English, other languages are a plus

  • Advanced desktop computer skills including PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel and Outlook required

  • Proven business/financial acumen, including demonstrated ability to motivate, influence, solve complex problems

  • Passionate change leader with outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, capable of influencing and driving a strategic change agenda across the organization at all levels

  • Proven to be effective driving outcomes in large, matrixed organizations – understands how to navigate geographies, cultures, relationships etc. 

  • Proven ability to work on cross-functional, multi-cultural teams

  • Excellent communication, influencing and collaboration skills required to manage a multitude of internal and external customers and partners

  • Strong team player who possesses excellent analytical skills with the capability to transform data into actionable plans, to identify and explain critical issues, to identify and challenge assumptions
