The Lower School Counselor works closely with the Principal, Assistant Principal, Head of Student Support, the ZIS counseling team, external providers and teachers, to support the learning and social and emotional needs of our community.
Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Counseling/Guidance, Social Work or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of lower school counseling experience
Experience working with children with moderate to complex needs
Fluent English speaker
A valid Swiss work permit
Desirable:
Primary school teacher qualification
Experience working with early childhood
Multilingual

Experience with solution-focused brief counseling, to include individual and small groups
Experience with social, emotional learning and curricula, including developing curriculum and sourcing materials
Able to teach whole class and small group lessons in classroom settings
Experience working with parents in partnerships, including providing personal support (and referral), leading workshops on relevant topics, transition support, and sharing relevant written material
Participates in individual student planning and responsive services to support students and their families regarding academic matters.
Supporting professional development of faculty
Willingness to be fully involved in school community life including coaching and chaperoning school events and field trips.
