Strategic Integration Specialist, Bioeconomy

This is a fixed-term role with a duration until May 31st, 2026 .

The Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) helps leaders anticipate exponential technologies and drive responsible sectoral and industry transformation. It creates and scales initiatives in a global network of government- and not-for-profit hosted centres which give national trailblazers access to a trusted platform of sharing, learning, and problem-solving.

Advances in biology coupled with new capabilities in artificial intelligence, compute power, and big data are opening up an increasing range of opportunities for biosolutions to create impact across climate change, supply chains, food security, human health, and natural resources. To propel the tech-enabled bioeconomy into the commercial mainstream, the Forum has established a global initiative focused on raising the public profile for leveraging biology as commercial technology.

As part of a strategic effort to expand the Forum’s biotechnology-related workstreams, the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution is recruiting a Strategic Integration Specialist, Bioeconomy. The Forum’s Bioeconomy Community represents a broad array of sectors and comprises business leaders, experts from the world's top research institutions, government officials, start-up entrepreneurs, media and civil society organizations. The Strategic Integration Specialist will play a key role in integrating activities across various thematic centres & Forum Initiatives.

Reporting lines & interactions

The Strategic Integration Specialist, Bioeconomy will report to the Forum’s Thematic Lead, Bioeconomy and will operate across multiple teams and geographies in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment. The Specialist will actively engage in building and maintaining productive relationships across Forum teams and initiatives. Establishing collaborative relationships externally and throughout the institution will be of utmost importance for succeeding in this role.

Breakdown of main responsibilities:

  • Expand bio-related workstreams through fostering and maintaining collaborations across Forum initiatives and centres.

  • Deliver on the thematic agenda through co-developing content (blogs, reports) and support drafting of session pitches and structures for bio-focused workstreams across a global community.

  • Provide strategic assistance to Centre and initiative leads to facilitate local-to-global and global-to-local exchange of knowledge, insights and best practices.

  • Leverage stakeholder management expertise to support Bioeconomy team in managing and mobilizing high-level communities of experts and decision makers across the Forum’s stakeholder ecosystem (industry, government, academia, international organizations, and civil society).

  • Facilitate smooth communication and keep records of engagement and progress for existing and prospective collaborations across centres and initiatives.

  • Scan the horizon for relevant issues, actors, and trends to inform current or future initiatives at the (sub)national or global level.

Preferred requirements and experience

  • An intellectual background with a university degree or equivalent in life sciences, business administration, international relations, or public policy.

  • 3+ years of experience in private or public sector, including working or consulting in relevant functions with exposure to topics related to synthetic biology, bioengineering, and the tech-enabled bioeconomy.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a keen eye for detail.

  • Highly collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a demanding environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and deliver under pressure.

  • Responsible, independent, and self-driven, with a passion for innovation to improve quality of life while respecting planetary boundaries.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
