A globally operating company in the health, cosmetics, and personal care retail sector, with a location in the heart of Zurich, is seeking a motivated and experienced Purchasing Assistant (m/f/d) to support efforts to drive value and profitability across multiple European markets by contributing to supplier tenders and international commercial initiatives.
This position is a temporary assignment, to start in August 2025 for the next 6 months, with an extension option.
Description
The Purchasing Assistant (m/f/d) plays a key role in the daily administration of cross-border procurement activities. Responsibilities include preparing documentation, compiling and analyzing data, managing vendor relationships, overseeing contract processes, coordinating product samples, and organizing both internal and external meetings. The role also encompasses the following areas of responsibility:
- Provides hands-on assistance to purchasing professionals and liaises with regional teams and vendors.
- Supports procurement cycles from initial vendor search and agreement signing to tender documentation, contract finalization, and reporting.
- Facilities communication across the network and organizing calls and team sessions.
- Handles administrative responsibilities such as document management and sample tracking.
- Participates in regular team syncs to ensure priority alignment.
Profile
In order to be considered for the role, the selected candidate must have:
- Successfully completed academic background or a commercial degree
- At least 2-3 years of experience in similar function, ideally as an operative buyer within the consumer goods or retail industry.
- Previous experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Proficient user in MS Office, as well as internal CRM and ERP systems.
- Solid English skills are required.
- German or Dutch skills are highly beneficial especially German.
- Strong communication skills for effectively interacting with professionals at all levels.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and resilience while effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel (approximately three times annually).
