About the job
We are looking for an Automation Commissioning Engineer to support the execution phase of commissioning activities on a major pharmaceutical project in Germany.
This is a full-time, site-based role requiring daily presence in the field. The position is suited to engineers with hands-on experience in automation systems and a practical approach to commissioning execution in regulated industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
● Execute on-site commissioning activities for automation systems, including PLC, DCS, SCADA and
BMS-related systems
● Perform field verification, loop checks, I/O checks and functional testing
● Support startup activities and on-site troubleshooting during commissioning
● Identify and help resolve technical issues arising during field execution
● Participate in walkdowns and support readiness activities prior to testing and handover
● Coordinate with Engineering, CQV, Construction, E&I teams, vendors and operations during execution
● Ensure systems are tested and documented in line with approved procedures and project requirements
● Support punch-list follow-up and completion of open technical items
● Ensure compliance with GMP and site safety requirements
Required Qualifications
● Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical background
● Experience in commissioning, startup, or field execution activities
● Good knowledge of industrial automation systems such as Siemens, DeltaV, ABB, Honeywell, or similar
● Previous on-site experience in industrial projects; pharmaceutical experience is preferred
● Practical, hands-on mindset and ability to work directly in the field
● Ability to interact with different project functions during execution
● Fluent in English
Nice to Have
● Experience in GMP-regulated environments
● German language skills are strongly appreciated
● Exposure to CQV activities
● Experience with MES, Historian, or digital system interfaces
Project Details
● Start Date: September–October 2026
● Duration: Long-term assignment, expected to run through the end of 2027
