The opportunity
The Hitachi Energy M&A team collaborates with our global leadership team to identify, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities that drive growth and improve business performance. The team applies strategic, financial, and operational frameworks to execute acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, and partnerships involving equity participation.
How you’ll make an impact

Support M&A managers and project teams throughout the lifecycle of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures

Build financial models and perform valuation analyses

Complete assigned work products and ad hoc analyses to support transaction execution

Collaborate with internal stakeholders (business units, functional teams) and external partners (advisors, consultants) to deliver high-quality work products

Support business plan development, strategic and financial analysis, synergy assessments, valuation, due diligence workstreams, legal documentation, and integration planning

Manage and maintain the M&A opportunity pipeline

Evaluate new opportunities (e.g., inbound teasers from investment banks and brokers) for strategic fit and potential impact, in collaboration with Corporate Development and Business Units

Prepare reports and insights on pipeline trends and activity

Identify, develop, and maintain tools and processes that support M&A best practices and improve team efficiency
Your background

2-3 years’ total experience, including 1+ years supporting M&A projects, preferably in Corporate Development or Transaction Advisory Services

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s preferred)

Able to navigate cross-functional, matrixed global organizations with diverse stakeholders

Can manage competing priorities across multiple projects

Superior attention to detail, critical thinking and analytical rigor

Excellent communication skills – both written (PowerPoint) and verbal

Has the ability to operate within a small, high-performance team with high visibility and limited resources – ability to learn quickly is essential

Able to travel occasionally (~10%), including internationally
