À propos de cette offre
Your new company
We are a group of inkjet technology experts with a shared passion for innovation, driven by mastery in Additive Manufacturing. flō is on a mission to transform the ophthalmic lens coating production process through our proprietary technology, providing immense value to ophthalmic laboratory manufacturers.
What you’ll do
- Own mechanical design for subsystems of optical coating machines and supporting equipment.
- Architect and implement linear/rotary axes (guides, screws, belts, bearings, couplings, lubrication, alignment, guarding).
- Design for controlled airflow and nitrogen management (flows, routing, filtration, purge/pressure strategy, condensate considerations).
- Design and control for IDS (Ink Delivery Systems) for inkjet printing systems.
- Engineer thermal solutions (heating/cooling layouts, heat sinks/plates, insulation, expansion management).
- Produce clean CAD (SolidWorks or Autodesk) and fully detailed 2D drawings with correct GD&T, fits, and surface specs.
- Run tolerance stack-ups and DFM/DFA reviews; choose materials and finishes appropriate for cleanliness and durability.
- Specify and source components; build structured BOMs; collaborate with suppliers on CNC, sheet metal, turning, and other processes.
- Rapidly prototype and iterate (bench tests, assembly bring-up); support technicians during build, integration, and verification.
- Document rigorously (ECOs, test reports, assembly instructions) and communicate cross-functionally with controls, process, and production teams.
Minimum qualifications
- ~10 years professional experience in mechanical design for machinery, equipment, or precision assemblies.
- BSc or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
- Mastery of SolidWorks or Autodesk (Inventor/Fusion) for complex assemblies and drawing creation.
- Proven DFM for CNC milling/turning, sheet metal, bending, welding, and appropriate fastening/joining.
- Strong command of GD&T (ASME Y14.5 or ISO 1101), tolerance analysis, and fits for motion and sealing interfaces.
- Practical experience implementing motion axes (component selection, alignment, preload, stiffness, backlash control).
- Working knowledge of airflow / nitrogen routing and thermal management in machinery.
- Comfortable on the shop floor: metrology tools, bring-up, troubleshooting, and design changes based on test evidence.
- High degree of self-sufficiency and fluent in English.
Nice to have
- Printing system design experience
- Exposure to optical equipment, lens handling/fixturing, cleanliness-by-design, or coating system environments.
- Light FEA for sanity checks, vibration/stiffness estimation, or thermal evaluations.
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM, ECO workflows, and structured BOM management.
- Experience delivering products that reached market production (industrial machinery or capital equipment).
How we work
- On-site, hands-on environment; you’ll juggle multiple internal projects as a focused individual contributor.
- Multi-disciplinary and teamwork environment
- Self-sufficient, resourceful, and comfortable turning ideas into clear mechanical concepts.
