These functions are carried out by specialists with expertise across all business units, and include the Communications, Compliance, Finance, Human Resources, Information Security, Internal Audit, Legal, Organisation & Digital, Risk and Tax departments.
As part of the Group Compliance unit, you will provide advisory expertise to Group stakeholders (banks and financial intermediaries) on matters linked to compliance with financial market regulations (market integrity, investor protection, cross-border, ESG). This will entail analysing Swiss, EU and other relevant regulatory provisions, with a view to assessing their impact on the Group’s business lines and entities, and sharing your expertise as part of projects or in the event of ad hoc requests.
Your role
• Acting as a Group-wide expert on investor protection, cross-border activities, market integrity and ESG-related issues.
• Analysing the impact on compliance of current and upcoming financial regulation, with a particular focus on suitability, cross-border activities, market abuse and ESG-related issues, and suggesting pragmatic implementation options.
• Serving as an advisor/ subject-matter expert on financial market-related topics as part of implementing and following up on regulatory projects, on internal compliance-related thematic committees (as co-lead for some of them), as well as to senior management, the Compliance community throughout the Group, and the business lines.
• Contributing, as an expert, to oversight activities associated with the compliance control framework, with a focus on Group-wide issues or risks.
• Providing input and ensuring quality control of the content of compliance-related training modules.
• Contributing to efforts to review and update internal policies and directives in the field of financial markets.
• Providing input on reports intended for internal governing bodies, internal and external auditors and regulators such as FINMA.
Your profile
• University degree or higher education qualification, ideally in law or business management.
• Additional certificate in compliance management or equivalent would definitely be a plus.
• At least five to seven years’ experience in compliance, legal or similar functions. Experience working in an international environment would be appreciated.
• Strong knowledge of the regulatory framework (Swiss and EU in particular), especially in the fields of suitability, cross-border and market abuse. Any AML-related knowledge would be a plus.
• Excellent understanding of banking operations and the financial environment in general.
• Skilled user of the standard MS Office applications, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse complex data sets and effectively compile, track and interpret KPIs and key business metrics.
• Fluent in French and English, with strong writing skills in both languages. A good command of German would be an advantage.
• Must be resident in Switzerland.
As the successful applicant, you will have strong analytical skills, be rigorous, well-organised and able to work independently. In addition to coping with stress in a fast-paced environment, you should be able to set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines. As a strong team player with a sense of tact, you will work with a range of departments across the Group. As such, you should be able to communicate clearly and succinctly, and to adapt your language depending on your audience.
