Commitment to Safe Recruitment
International School Basel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students in its care. As an employer, the school expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All post holders are appointed subject to satisfactory Criminal Records Checks, Social Media Check, Civil Litigation Check, Global Sanctions Check, and Reference Checks with past employers.
The Position
The core purpose of an EAL Teacher at International School Basel is to support the development of beginner English speakers, playing a crucial role in helping students acquire the language skills necessary to access the full MYP curriculum, while also building their confidence and independence as learners. EAL teachers will deliver both in-class support (co-teach alongside an English teacher) as well as targeted small group pull-out support across Grades 6 to 8 within the IB Middle Years Programme to students with varying levels of English proficiency.
Candidates applying for this role should have proven experience teaching EAL, ideally within an MYP context, and be confident in supporting students’ academic language development across the curriculum. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, a general teaching qualification, and an EAL qualification/license, and has a minimum of four years of teaching experience. Knowledge and experience of the IB MYP Programme is preferred.
Our Offer
ISB offers an excellent employment package and relocation support in an international and welcoming environment including free after-school childcare, German lessons, professional development opportunities, onsite fitness facilities and first-class accident insurance worldwide together with an employee friendly pension plan.
