The NPP Qualification Test Engineer within the Sustaining Team is responsible for executing and documenting Nuclear Qualification activities for Gutor-designed components and, upon request, for complete UPS systems.
This role ensures compliance with nuclear standards and internal quality requirements, leveraging deep knowledge of Gutor’s equipment, components, and processes. Responsibilities include planning and performing qualification tests (e.g., aging, EMC, climate, seismic), supporting on-site test logistics, conducting failure investigations, and implementing minor hardware modifications in coordination with the NPP Qualification team. The engineer also supports lifecycle management of components and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, execute, and document Nuclear Qualification tests (e.g., aging, EMC, climate, seismic) for Gutor components and UPS systems.
- Maintain and operate test setups and instruments in compliance with safety and quality procedures.
- Perform root cause analysis on system/component level and propose corrective actions.
- Issue investigation reports and support the continuous improvement process.
- Support lifecycle management (LCM) activities including release, upgrade, and discontinuation of Gutor components.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Project Management teams to ensure qualification requirements are met.
- Review and interpret technical specifications, schematics, and qualification standards.
- Ensure use of calibrated equipment and adherence to internal qualification protocols.
- Contribute to the improvement of test procedures, tools, and documentation.
- Failure analysis on component level specifically on XXW/SDC systems
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS – REQUIRED
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in this specific area (Nuclear and UPS), preferably within the R&D
- Deep familiarity with Gutor’s process landscape and internal workflows.
- Detailed knowledge of Power Electronics used in Gutor UPS systems, specifically with PCBAs, power modules, driver cards, etc.
- Proven experience in Nuclear Qualification processes including electrical, aging, environmental, and seismic testing.
- Understanding of lifecycle management for Gutor components
- Experience on ECO/ECN creation and deviation for BOM upgrade
- Basic mechanical understanding.
- Experience on RCAs on component level specifically on power devices (semiconductor)
- Proficient in English (spoken and written).
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS – DESIRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL
- Experience with full UPS system qualification.
- Experience in RoHS compliance implementation
- Familiarity with international nuclear standards (e.g. RCC-E, IEEE323 and IEEE650, IEC61513 and IEC60780, 10 CFR 50) and related testing best practices.
- Experience in minor hardware modifications.
