Swiss Eyewear Group (International) AG, known as "SEG", is a fast-growing company that successfully distributes sunglasses, reading glasses, and optical frames under our own brands – INVU, EKKIU, and SMARTY – as well as licensed brands and private labels in over 95 countries worldwide.To strengthen our team, we are looking for a motivated and open-minded individual for the position of Development and Sourcing Manager, starting on May 1st 2025 or as agreed.
Role Purpose:
As the Development and Sourcing Manager, you will oversee the creation of global eyewear collections for our in-house brands as well as private label projects for international clients. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that designs meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and market relevance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct active research into fashion and design trends through various channels (magazines, online sources, shop visits)
- Scout for new products based on emerging fashion trends and collection needs
- Evaluate and strategically select and allocate products to factories based on design, price, quality, and service considerations
- Independently manage and coordinate the development of collections based on defined briefings.This includes defining collection profiles, controlling SKUs, setting cost targets and overseeing design research and technical requirements
- Collaborate closely with factories to ensure design accuracy and product quality
- Analyze procurement costs and negotiate pricing
- Work with the internal QC team to define quality standards, inspection procedures, and product testing
- Ensure compliance with PPE and MD Regulations, and maintain all necessary documentation (technical drawings, declarations of conformity, product information sheets)
- Track and manage customer feedback, quality claims, and product rejection cases in
- Collaboration with the QC and Supply Chain teams
- Ensure accuracy of data in the online development tool (IRIS)
- Lead product selection meetings with the Design Committee for final production decisions
- Perform statistical analyses to assess pricing, product performance, and goal achievement
Requirements:
- Ideally 3 years of experience in the eyewear and/or Fashion industry; with a focus on sourcing and development
- Proven track record in the sourcing of consumer products
- Strong team player with excellent social and diplomatic skills
- Interest in Fashion and current trends
- Ability to seamlessly transition between strategic tasks and hands-on activities
- Service-oriented mindset and a proactive approach in a dynamic environment
- High level of passion and commitment to sourcing and development
- Strong analytical skills and adaptability
- Knowledge of technologies, processes, tools, and quality inspection procedures
- Proactive, pragmatic, and goal-oriented with excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- Business fluency in English is essential; German, Italian, French, and/or Chinese are advantageous
- Willingness to travel 2-3 times per year to Asia for product sourcing, factory scouting, and collection finalization (each trip lasting 10-20 days)
- Participation in annual customer meetings globally
