Job Purpose – Global Social Media Manager

Are you a strategic thinker passionate about social media and digital marketing? Do you have the influence and vision to lead in a global setting? We seek a visionary Global Social Media Manager to spearhead our digital marketing strategies and align them with the organization's objectives. In this high-impact role, you will develop cutting-edge social media strategies that drive engagement, customer acquisition, and revenue growth through performance-based marketing campaigns across multiple digital channels. As a thought leader in social media, you will create and oversee compelling, accessible, and relevant content. Your work will ensure our brand remains accurate and current in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust and senior comprehension of digital marketing, complemented by analytics, qualitative and quantitative insights, and data-driven conversion optimization expertise. Based within the Global Marketing & Commercial Excellence team at our headquarters in Basel, you will report directly to the Head of Digital Marketing & Demand Generation.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Global social media strategy and management:
  • Serve as the pivotal figure in shaping and executing the global social media strategy, driving brand engagement and growth across all platforms.
  • Adjust and implement the global content strategy to maintain a cohesive brand image and strengthen our presence.
  • Ensure consistent strategies and campaign readiness aligned with Brand Headquarters, markets, and the global marketing plan, specifically focusing on social media.
  • Ensure professional, creative, quality marketing communication tailored explicitly for social media channels.
  • Advise on integrated digital marketing activities, translating concepts into tangible deliverables, and drafting comprehensive strategies to optimize online performance.
  • Drive social selling initiatives as part of the broader digital marketing efforts.
  • Own and develop our social media tools such as Brandwatch and Talkwalker to optimize digital strategies, provide recommendations and enhance engagement across all platforms.
  • Additionally the role will be responsible for leading the governance and administration of social media channels, including overseeing account access, brand alignment, content hygiene, adherence to guidelines, policy enforcement, playbook development, crisis management, and reporting.
  • Project and stakeholder management:
  • Manage high-complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Coordinate global interdisciplinary teams, manage budgets and resources, and support vendor and agency relationships.
  • Act as the central liaison between Headquarters and the markets, additionally holding key account responsibilities -fostering solid relationships with internal stakeholders and championing continuous improvement.
  • Training and development:
  • Lead the training and further development of skills and digital tools across global, regional and local teams.
  • Create educational content to foster skill enhancement within the team.
  • Innovation and trends:
  • Explore and develop global channel opportunities, including new and emerging social media platforms.
  • Conduct market research to predict and capitalize on social media trends. Actively challenge the status quo by staying up to date with evolving trends and technologies in digital marketing.
  • Thought leadership:
  • Act as a speaker and thought leader in the digital marketing sphere, contributing to external and internal discussions.
  • Represent the company as the social media face during events and congresses, actively engaging with audiences and representing our brand.
  • Influencer and KOL marketing:
  • Collaborate with our Medical Education department to identify and collaborate with brand advocates, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and influencers to enhance our social media presence.
  • Develop influencer/KOL marketing strategies to amplify our reach.

Requirements needed

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in marketing or business administration, complemented by 5+ years of expertise leading digital marketing projects and go-to-market strategies in global settings, preferably within the medical device industry.
  • Possesses additional postgraduate and professional qualifications, demonstrating a non-hierarchical, team-oriented attitude with experience in global team leadership.
  • Proven track record in marketing or sales, certified in project management (SCRUM, PMP, etc.), and adept at agile project management in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong analytical skills, independence, and a proactive, accountable approach, fostering effective working relationships in an international matrix.
  • Energetic, commercially-minded team player with entrepreneurial spirit and prowess in marketing and commercial execution.
  • Ability to translate complex digital topics and data-driven insights into tangible strategies, coupled with a passion for emerging technology tools and a deep understanding of global digital marketing platforms.
  • Digitally driven mindset prioritizing pragmatic, impact-driven activities.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Accustomed to multicultural environments, comfortable with up to 20% travel, and demonstrates a high level of integrity and commitment.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), additional languages considered as a valuable asset.
