Über den Job
The laboratory of the Department of Dermatology focuses on translational research in skin immunology, with a particular emphasis on immune profiling of human tissue samples. A central component of our work is transcriptomic-based analysis of skin biopsies and proteomics analysis of serum samples to support precision medicine approaches. We are seeking a research technician with strong molecular biology expertise, who will take primary responsibility for transcriptomic and proteomic workflows and contribute to additional laboratory tasks.
What you can expect
- Independent execution of transcriptomic and proteomic workflows (approx. 60-80%), including serum isolation and RNA extraction from human skin biopsies using TRIzol-based protocols
- RNA quality control (Nanodrop, Fragment Analyzer), sample preparation, and hybridization
- Operation of the nCounter Prep Station and Digital Analyzer, including coordination of runs with external collaborators
- Structured documentation of experimental metadata and generation of high-quality, reproducible transcriptomic datasets aligned with published immune module readouts
- Isolation, preservation, and experimental processing of human tissue samples; cell culture work with PBMCs, primary human cells, and cell lines (approx. 20-40%)
- Support of molecular and cellular assays (e.g. flow cytometry), general laboratory organization, and contribution to method optimization and implementation of new assays
Your Profile
- Diploma as a Biology Laboratory Technician or a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Life Sciences, or an equivalent qualification
- Proven experience in molecular biology, ideally including RNA-based techniques
- Hands-on experience with transcriptomic platforms is a strong advantage
- Confident handling of human samples, sterile techniques, and laboratory safety standards
- High level of accuracy, reliability, strong documentation skills, and ability to work independently within established protocols
- Enthusiasm for translational research and teamwork; fluency in English and/or German, with flexibility to work outside standard hours when required by sample logistics
What we offer
- A technically demanding and scientifically meaningful role in translational skin immunology
- Responsibility for a core transcriptomics platform within the lab
- Close integration into ongoing research projects with clinical relevance
- Training opportunities and continued professional development
- A collaborative, motivated team and state-of-the-art infrastructure
- Opportunities for national and international scientific collaboration
