Senior Software Systems Engineer SD-WAN (80-100%) 

Your Mission 

As a Senior Software Systems Engineer SD-WAN, you will work on improving our SD-WAN portfolio which is the foundation of Open Systems' global network operations. You will be involved in projects from their concept phase all the way through to deployment and operations, driving architecture and technical direction for routing-related services. Working as part of a highly-skilled engineering team you will build services that improve the performance, availability, and security of our customers' networks without the need for human intervention in the following areas: 

• WAN Encryption and Routing 

• Application-based Multi-ISP routing 

• WAN Traffic Optimization 

Your Qualifications 

For this position, we are looking for candidates who are passionate about networks, automation, and complex problem-solving. 

• Higher education (ETH, university, FH) with a degree in Computer Science or a related field  

• 4+ years of relevant professional experience 

• Strong understanding of IP networking and routing protocols, with hands-on experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting OSPF and BGP in production environments 

• Knowledge about Linux systems design, security and/or networking, Linux KernelUnderstanding of networking technologies and protocols (e.g. dynamic routing, firewalling, TCP/IP, ...) 

• Experience with the Linux Netfilter stack 

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3+ years of building production systems in Go. Strong proficiency in Go for concurrent, networked, or systems-level applications. Working experience with scripting languages such as Bash and Python (Perl a plus) for automation, tooling, and operational workflows 

• Knowledge of software and system testing practices (CI/CD) 

• Proven experience driving agile development processes in cross-functional teams 

• Proficiency in English 

Bonus 

• Knowledge of network security concepts and practices 

• Experience in C and/or eBPF 

• Familiarity with Segment Routing (SRv6) 

• Experience with prometheus/thanos/grafana/OTel observability stack
