Project:
For our customer a big pharmaceutical company in Basel we are looking Senior Research Associate (In vivo) in Non Malignant Hematology (m/f/d).
Background:
At Roche, we believe it's urgent to deliver medical solutions right now - even as we develop innovations for the future. We are passionate about transforming patients' lives and we are fearless in both decision and action. And we believe that good business means a better world.
That is why we come to work each day. We commit ourselves to scientific rigor, unassailable ethics, and access to medical innovations for all. We do this today to build a better tomorrow.
We're currently looking for a research associate to assess efficacy, safety and translatability of new therapies in non malignant hematological disorders focusing on hemoglobinopathies. Together with a larger team you will be part of a highly collaborative, international group of research associates and scientists that are developing medicines for the future. You will work primarily with cell-culture based in vitro models to characterize/validate different therapeutic strategies in anemia disorders. These approaches will require you to be skilled in cell culture assays and different in vitro techniques like flow cytometry and qPCR.
The Perfect candidate : A highly motivated Life Sciences graduate (MSc/BSc or equivalent apprenticeship + 3 years exp.) with rodent handling and animal experimentation authorization (LTK1, FELASA, etc.) is sought. Essential skills include cell culture, in vitro assays, and strong organizational and data management abilities. Fluency in English and a collaborative spirit are key for success in this dynamic research team. PhD candidates will be considered overqualified.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Work with transgenic mouse models to support different projects (injections, tissue collection and processing)
• Run downstream ex vivo assays (e.g., multi color flow cytometry, qPCR, western blotting)
• Work with cell lines, primary cells and tissues including patient-derived material
• Collaboratively design, execute, and interpret data from different studies and contribute to assay optimization
• Contribute to data analysis, maintain detailed documentation, and effectively communicate findings to the research team
• Work closely with all members of the group, share duties, maintain a clean work environment and actively contribute to the positive work atmosphere within the group
Must Haves:
• MSc/BSc in Life Sciences (cellular/ molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology, hematology), or completion of an apprenticeship for a research associate ("Lehrabschluss") with ?3 years of academic or industry experience
• Authorization to conduct animal experimentation (e.g., active LTK1, FELASA, or equivalent)
• Prior hands-on experience working with rodents (e.g., injections/tissue sampling)
• Experience in cell culture and in vitro molecular assays
• High motivation, flexibility, and excellent organizational skills to effectively support the team
• Relevant industrial work experience
• You can communicate fluently in English
• Open and collaborative team spirit
• Excellent data management and record-keeping skills
• Strong "can-do" attitude with a drive to succeed in a dynamic and highly collaborative research team.
Nice to Haves:
• Prior experience in flow cytometry (desirable)
• Technical and theoretical expertise in immunology/hematopoiesis is a plus
