Job Description
Your responsibilities
The Open Science section within the CERN Scientific Information Service promotes the openness, preservation and discovery of high-energy physics (HEP) research.
One of the activities of the section is to ensure open access to CERN's research publications through a range of strategies including transformative agreements with publishers and SCOAP3, a global partnership working to achieve disciplinary open access through collective action.
The Junior Open Access Manager supports operation management of all Open Access activities. This includes a wide range of activities: liaising with authors to provide guidance, controlling compliance of CERN articles with Open Access policy, and ensuring regular monitoring.
Within SCOAP3, the Junior Open Access Manager is supporting the coordination of the project with partners from all over the world.
The Junior Open Access Manager is also involved in other Open Science projects in collaboration with various departments at CERN.
This role also contributes to the overall strategic development of the CERN Open Science ecosystem.
Your profile
Skills:
Knowledge of Open Access Models, Policies, and the academic publishing market;
Interest and first experience in Open Science;
Metadata management/curation;
Strong analytical skills;
Service-oriented communication;
Adaptability and flexibility;
Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Library and Information Science (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.
You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.
Additional Information
Job closing date: 03.07.2025 at 23:59 CEST.
Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
Working hours: 40 hours per week
