Über den Job
About the ITI
The ITI (International Team for Implantology) is the world's leading academic community in implant dentistry. Founded in 1980 and headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, we are an independent, non-profit, member-led organization uniting around 25,000 Fellows and Members across 40 Sections worldwide.
Built on four pillars — Science, Education, Leadership and Membership — the ITI sets the global standard for evidence-based education and has invested heavily in research that improves treatment for patients everywhere. Our purpose is simple: inspiring global excellence in implant dentistry for the benefit of the patient.
The opportunity
We are looking for a technology leader who has run enterprise systems properly and still wants to stay close to the work. You will own ITI's technology and AI landscape end to end — architecture, data, solution design, delivery, operations, security, and the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence — leading a small internal team and a growing portfolio of partner relationships.
Most implementation is done by external partners: Microsoft Dynamics and Docebo implementation partners, digital agencies, and specialist developers. Your role is not to steer them from a distance, but to be the informed client who sets the architecture, scopes the work, judges what comes back, and decides on trade-offs and technical direction. That requires real depth — you need to understand what your suppliers are building well enough to challenge it.
What you will do
How We Work
- Close to the work. You will not write most of the code, but you will read it, review solution designs and data models, prototype, and dig into problems yourself.
- Partner-driven. Our capacity grows through suppliers, not headcount. Selecting, scoping, and holding agencies to a high standard is the core of the job.
- Broad. Small team, wide surface. In the same week you may work on a Dynamics data model, a Docebo integration, a security finding, and the AI agent.
- Startup pace, enterprise discipline. We deliver in small, iterative steps — while running systems that carry member data, education credits, and revenue, so security, data governance, and reliability are non-negotiable.
Platforms and Solution Ownership
- Own ITI's platform landscape end to end, including strategy, architecture, delivery, operation, and lifecycle management. Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Customer Insights, Docebo, WordPress and headless CMS, the ITI mobile app, our AI agent, and our event, membership, and community platforms — including the integrations between them.
- Own the Microsoft ecosystem as ITI's core business platform. Dynamics 365 as the system of record for members, customers, and transactions, and Customer Insights as the basis for segmentation, journeys, and communication.
- Own identity as a platform, with Microsoft Entra ID as the backbone for staff, member, volunteer, and partner access, including tenant configuration, single sign-on and federation across our platforms, external and guest identities, conditional access, app registrations, and the joiner-mover-leaver lifecycle.
- Own the Azure foundation on which much of this runs. Subscriptions and resource governance, hosting, integration and automation services, API management, monitoring, and cost control.
- Set the technical direction for each platform, including architecture, data models, integrations, release processes, and lifecycle management. Decide what is built, configured, or bought.
- Review what partners deliver. Solution designs, data models, integrations, configuration, and code and judge quality, maintainability, security, and value for money before it goes live.
Suppliers and Partners
- Build and manage ITI's partner ecosystem. Dynamics and Docebo implementation partners, digital agencies, and specialist providers — including selection, contracts, budgets, licenses, and service levels.
- Steer delivery actively. Set requirements and acceptance criteria, review output technically, and intervene early when quality or pace slips.
- Set expectations on modern delivery practice. Source control, code review, testing, CI/CD, separated environments, documentation, monitoring, clean handover — and verify they are met.
- Keep architecture knowledge, data ownership, and critical documentation in-house, so ITI never becomes dependent on a single supplier.
Architecture, Data, and Security
- Maintain a clear, current picture of the landscape, including systems, integrations, data flows, identities, dependencies and costs. Define architecture principles and a roadmap concrete enough to be followed.
- Own the data architecture. Clear sources of truth across Dynamics, Customer Insights, Docebo, web, app, and events; data quality; and compliance with Swiss FADP and GDPR.
- Ensure secure, reliable operations with external partners. Own cybersecurity, identity and access management, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, incident response, and supplier security.
- Apply governance in proportion. Enough structure to be secure, auditable, and predictable, and no more.
Artificial Intelligence
- Deliver AI use cases that create real value, including our member-facing AI agent, automation of manual processes, retrieval and search across ITI's content, and decision support.
- Choose tools on merit and stay open across the market. Microsoft's AI stack where it fits, other models, platforms, and agentic tools where they are better.
- Prototype quickly, evaluate honestly, and stop what does not work.
- Establish responsible AI guardrails covering data protection, intellectual property, the sensitivity of clinical content, and transparency.
Team and Stakeholders
- Lead and develop a small internal team. You will lead a lean internal technology team while coordinating multiple external delivery partners. Set the technical bar and work alongside them. Build technical capability within ITI and create an environment where internal staff and partners can deliver at a consistently high standard.
- Operations, budget & performance. Own the technology budget, including software licensing, cloud services, supplier spend, and technology investment planning.
- Reporting line. Reporting directly to the COO, you will act as ITI's senior technology leader and trusted adviser to the CEO, Management Team, and governing bodies.
What you bring
Experience and Technical Skills
- 8–10+ years of experience in technology leadership and delivery. Including hands-on delivery, and a track record of steering external partners and agencies.
- Substantial experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365. Data model, configuration, customization, and integration. Ideally including Customer Insights or a comparable CDP or marketing automation platform.
- Strong, practical command of the Azure stack. Resource and subscription governance, hosting, integration and automation services, API management, monitoring, and cost control alongside Microsoft 365 and Power Platform.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID. Tenant and directory management, single sign-on and federation, conditional access, external and guest identities, and app registrations across a mixed SaaS landscape.
- Experience with e-learning or content platforms. Docebo or comparable, WordPress and headless CMS architectures, and mobile applications. Enough depth to judge what suppliers deliver: you can read code, assess a solution design or data model, and tell good work from expensive work. You know modern development practice — version control, code review, CI/CD, environments, testing, APIs, monitoring — well enough to require it from partners.
- Proven supplier management, including partner selection, contract negotiation, budget management, service levels, and difficult performance conversations.
- Experience operating enterprise-grade environments. Identity, security, integrations, compliance, availability, and practical experience applying AI tooling, agents, and automation.
- Education & Languages. Fluent English; German is an advantage. Relevant university degree, or equivalent capability demonstrated in practice.
Mindset
- Enterprise experience, early-stage mentality. You have seen how a large organization runs technology properly, and you take the discipline that matters while leaving the ceremony behind.
- Bias to ship. You prefer small, reversible steps to multi-year programs, and would rather have something running next month than perfect on paper next year.
- Comfortable with breadth and ambiguity. Nobody will hand you a defined scope. You decide what matters, in what order, and why.
- Real care for the users. Dental professionals with limited time and volunteers giving theirs. You build for them, not for the org chart.
- Purpose-driven & short decision paths. We are a purpose-driven, international, non-profit environment in Basel, with flexible working conditions and a collaborative team. We have short decision paths, direct access to the COO and CEO, and the mandate to modernize both the stack and the way we work.
