PhD Position (Tumor Immunology and Neuro-Oncology)
Das können Sie bewegen
- Investigate mechanisms maintaining the immunosuppressive myeloid microenvironment of glioblastoma and identify strategies to therapeutically reverse them
- Develop and apply cellular and patient-derived models, including primary immune and tumor cell cultures, co-cultures, organoids and tumor explants
- Build and perform functional screening approaches to evaluate myeloid-directed immunotherapies, including live-cell imaging, phagocytosis and immune activation assays
- Characterize treatment responses using multiparameter flow cytometry, spatial profiling and single-cell sequencing, and integrate experimental and clinical data
- Advance promising therapeutic strategies toward translational validation, including antibody engineering, predictive biomarker development and in vivo testing
Das bringen Sie mit
- Master's degree or equivalent in immunology, cancer biology, biomedical or life sciences, molecular medicine, pharmaceutical sciences or a related field; medical graduates with a strong interest in laboratory research are also welcome
- Hands-on laboratory experience, ideally in cell culture and cellular or molecular immunology
- Strong interest in tumor immunology, myeloid biology and translational cancer research, with a motivation to connect mechanistic research to therapeutic applications
- Curiosity for new experimental methods and quantitative data analysis; experience with R or Python is advantageous but not required
- Initiative, reliability and the ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment; willingness to work with mouse models and excellent English language skills are required
Benefits dieser Stelle
- Broad, hands-on methodological training in a growing lab, alongside other PhD students and experienced scientists
- Access to the DBM core facilities: live-cell imaging, flow cytometry, DNA and RNA sequencing, spatial proteomics, single-cell genomics, microscopy and animal facilities
- A highly interdisciplinary environment connecting experimental immunology, neuro-oncology and translational cancer research
- Substantial scope for scientific independence and project ownership within a growing translational research program
- A location that matters after the PhD: Basel is one of Europe's densest life-science clusters with the University, global pharmaceutical companies and a large biotech scene, and a compact, international city that is easy to live in
