Über den Job

As a Senior Technical Accountant, you are the go-to expert for all financial and insurance technical accounting matters. You ensure seamless finance and accounting operations, support the Head of Finance and Performance Management with key responsibilities, and take ownership of critical tasks within the team. Beyond day-to-day processes, you play an active role in group-wide initiatives and projects, making you an essential link between precision, compliance, and strategic impact.

What to expect

• Leading role in the optimization and further development of internal processes, reporting structures, and automation
• Independent handling of special topics and assumption of (partial) project management in the accounting environment
• Overseeing the technical review and finalization of incoming and outgoing (retrocession) technical settlements, taking complex contract structures into account
• Managing key work packages for the quarterly and annual financial statements of the firm and the Group for local GAAP/OR and IFRS, including the coordination of complex balance sheet items
• Ensuring the correct and timely processing of payables/receivables as well as escalating and clarifying discrepancies with internal and external partners
• Monitoring and controlling international payment flows, including coordination with treasury and external business partners
• Quality-assured review, plausibility check, and posting of claims reports, including analysis of pattern deviations and trends
• Ongoing communication and technical contact person for international partners and internal stakeholders (underwriting, risk management, actuarial, business process management etc.) in German and English
• Support in the professional development of team colleagues (coaching/knowledge sharing)
• Agile organization in a strategically guided transformation, where adaptability and a strong commitment to excellence define the way of working

We expect

• Completed business or economics degree, ideally with a focus on accounting/insurance is a big advantage
• 5 - 10 years of professional experience in technical accounting in the reinsurance sector
• Outstanding knowledge of accounting processes, balance sheet relationships, and technical accounting logic
• Experience with SAP, knowledge of FS-RI is a significant advantage
• Confident use of MS Office (especially Excel) and very good IT affinity
• Excellent written and spoken English and German
• High level of initiative, sense of responsibility, and enjoyment of cross-functional collaboration
• Ability to prepare complex issues in a manner appropriate for the target audience and provide technical support to junior team members
• Strong analytical thinking skills, structured approach to work, and high problem-solving skills
