This works well in the company
This assessment concerns Collini AG, BIEL site, production Before applying for a job, you should carefully consider whether you are prepared to accept the stressful working conditions and potential health risks. If you do apply, you will soon find out what is meant by this assessment. - The work in electroplating is very interesting from a technical point of view, but the working conditions at Collini in Biel are extremely poor. - I had a 4-shift contract, which made a good work-life balance almost impossible due to the constant schedule changes and stressful shift work. - The pay is disproportionate to the physically demanding, unhealthy work! In addition, the social benefits, especially the pension fund, are very poor and there are hardly any additional benefits. If you want to earn more money, you can also work at weekends. - The handling of chemicals is often careless - in stressful situations, protective equipment (goggles, gloves) is not even worn due to time pressure or pressure from management. - In the event of a chemical spill, no specialist personnel are sent to clean it up. Instead, production employees have to remove the hazard themselves during ongoing production. - The training of new employees is inadequate, many have to teach themselves the majority, I estimate 70%, of what they need to know - Colleague cohesion is very weak, the working atmosphere is characterized by gossip, competition and a lack of support. There is a lack of genuine cooperation across departments - mistakes are often covered up or blamed on others. Male employees in particular are under pressure to constantly prove themselves in order to be recognized. - Communication, especially during shift handovers, is unreliable, which regularly leads to problems. Criticism is not taken seriously by superiors, but is later used against you. - Communication within the company is poor overall - both within teams and between departments. - There are only a few older employees and they can be counted on one hand. They are favored, new ones are hardly promoted. - There are no career opportunities or real further training. - In production in Biel, you are often only seen as a "reel changer" - that's all you are there, and that's how you are treated. - Overall, this is not an employer where you can develop professionally or personally in the long term. - The high fluctuation rate speaks for itself - within a short period of time, many colleagues left the company due to illness or because of the poor conditions. - The chemicals used are very hazardous to health; in my time, many employees developed lung problems, allergies and skin rashes. In addition, there is no air conditioning, only fans, which hardly provide any cooling in the heat. The windows are screwed shut and cannot be opened, so there is no fresh air supply - apparently for security reasons due to previous thefts. - Breaks were hardly possible, although stipulated by law - The break times are subsequently recorded on the payslip by HR and production management as if they had been properly observed - although in reality this was very often not possible. All employees and shift supervisors are aware of this problem, but it is deliberately ignored. - Several employees have contacted SUVA about the working conditions; in some cases, arbitration authorities and lawyers have also been called in. Conclusion: technically interesting tasks - but under these conditions in production at Collini Biel definitely the wrong employer for long-term development or health! In view of the massive deficiencies in occupational safety, handling of chemicals, employee protection and general working conditions, it is incomprehensible to me how such a company is still allowed to exist in this form in Switzerland. Such conditions should not only be improved, but fundamentally reviewed - and closed in an emergency!
This could be improved
- Shift planning and work-life balance - Wages and benefits - Handling chemicals and occupational health and safety - Professional cleaning in the event of chemical spills - Induction of new employees - Colleague cohesion and working atmosphere - Improving communication - Promotion and further training - Recognition of work - Occupational health and safety: there is an urgent need to invest in better ventilation and air conditioning systems to improve working conditions and reduce health risks. - Break times and compliance - Conflict management Professional conflict management and a trustworthy point of contact for employees could help to reduce tensions and reduce staff turnover. (HR, management are the wrong contacts) - Response to complaints: Complaints and information from employees should be taken seriously and dealt with promptly
