Lower School Student Support (Part Time 40%) August 2023 - June 2024
The Position: Learning Support Teachers are integral members of the Student Support Team, working closely with Faculty to deliver effective support for students and their families.
Essential qualification:
- Valid Swiss work permit
Desired qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, with at least one position in an international school setting
- Masters (or equivalent) in Special Education
- Experience working in Upper Primary
- Experience and training with key intervention programs
- Experience with inclusive programs, using a multi level student support system, e.g. MLSS/RTI
- Experience and training in supporting children with regulation needs
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs
- Experience with common educational and screening assessments
- Experience with assistive technologies and 1:1 device programs
- A commitment to relationship building with students, colleagues and families
- A commitment and passion for celebrating neurodiversity
- A commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and active participation in school life
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers, single subject teachers, therapists and other student support teachers to ensure appropriate support and challenge in student learning
- Differentiate for a range of student strengths and challenges
- Administer assessments for student placement and support
- In collaboration with the homeroom teachers, design and deliver evidence-based level 2 interventions for students needing additional support
- Implement, manage and review the IEP process for students receiving level 2 or Level 3 support in the caseload
- Develop and implement tailored realistic but challenging goals for students needing academic support at level 3 - this may include extension/enrichment as well as remediation
- Manage and implement assessment modifications
- Collect and analyze data, and facilitate data driven conversations with the grade level team
- Initiate and actively nurture positive relationships with all stakeholders including external providers
- Regularly communicate directly and collaboratively with students and staff
- Collaboratively manage home-school communication, including conferences, IEP meetings, meeting minutes and end of year reports
- Plan and support grade to grade transition following agreed procedures
- Actively participate and contribute to appropriate teams
- Remain active and informed of current professional research and practice to ensure best supported practices in the instruction and care of children are used, sharing and consulting as needed
- Maintain and update all individual student and grade level documentation in a shared drive
- Advocate for all students with additional needs
