A PhD position at the DAB Panel Study is to be filled as of 1 January 2025 or by arrangement. The position is limited to four years. Since 2012, the DAB panel study (www.dab.edu.unibe.ch) has been collecting longitudinal data on the occupational and educational situation of young adults in German-speaking Switzerland. The individuals in the sample have been followed since their eighth year of school and have so far been surveyed eleven times about their current educational situation and their educational and career aspirations. The selected individuals have been followed since their eighth year of school and have so far been interviewed in eleven surveys about their current education or employment situation as well as their educational and career aspirations. The DAB Panel provides a theoretically and empirically sound contribution from a life course perspective to addressing relevant issues in vocational education and training, labour market and occupational research. Further information (including data and codebooks of the DAB Panel Study) is available on the website www.dab.edu.unibe.ch. The DAB Panel Study is funded by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and will run until mid-2029. Four further surveys are planned for the years 2025-2028.

The DAB panel study is based at the Department of Educational Sociology (Prof. Dr Rolf Becker) at the Institute of Educational Science, part of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Bern (www.edu.unibe.ch). In both research and teaching, we deal with questions of the socio-structural, economic, cultural, political and socio-structural conditions of educational processes and their individual and social consequences. Key research areas include social inequality of educational opportunities and education over the life course.
