THE POSITION

Under the direction of the Team Lead Archives, the Archive Data & Information Manager is responsible for the maintenance of the reference metadata used by the FIFA archive.

These are your key tasks:
  • Manage our reference metadata through Mondeca ITM 
  • Manage and validate candidate terms submitted to ITM
  • Undertake regular quality review of cataloging and metadata and provide feedback
  • Review and evaluate workflows and work assignments, with an eye toward increasing efficiencies and ensuring the archive is able to handle the increasing volume of digital assets
  • Train colleagues in cataloging, metadata standards and methodology, technology, systems, and tools
  • Keep up to date on developments in the field of metadata management and make recommendations to the Team Lead
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of projects affecting the archive
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and expertise concerning the Media Asset Management system to the archive staff
  • Provide support to the editorial team and producers by undertaking picture research into any subject relevant to the content produced

The specific competencies we require for this position are:
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent
  • Knowledge of cataloguing and metadata as applied to sport and film collections
  • Experience in cataloguing special collections, archival materials, and digital collections
  • Experience in coordination or management of audiovisual media asset management systems
  • Experience in batch cataloguing, metadata normalisation, and metadata manipulation tools or programming languages
  • Several years' experience in managing and implementing audiovisual archive workflows
  • Strong working knowledge of RDF and linked data vocabularies, XML, and other international metadata schemas, formats, standards, and protocols
  • Good knowledge of implementing taxonomy, thesauri, and controlled vocabularies for a metadata repository
  • Good knowledge of TV/Broadcast standards
  • Familiar with technical topics within audiovisual such as video formats and qualities, codecs, bit rates, frame rates, and with delivering content to required specifications
  • General knowledge of copyright and related rights in general
  • Good knowledge of football in general and FIFA World Cup in particular
  • Evidence of successful and creative management of staff and operations, including demonstrated potential for leading transformational change 
  • Evidence of leadership in the fields of knowledge access and resource management, including demonstrated effective management, planning, and organizational skills
  • Fluent in English, proficiency in any other FIFA language ( F / ES / GER) is an asset
  • Good knowledge in RDF, XML, JSON, SQL is an advantage
  • Good understanding of scripts (PHP, Python or similar) 
  • Willingness to travel for work to FIFA tournaments and events
