Scientific Assistant for Teaching in Architectural Design

40%-50%, Zurich, fixed-term

Atavism - Chair of Architecture Heritage and Sustainability (Prof. Mariam Issoufou) is looking for a scientific assistant to join our teaching team starting from September 1st 2024 or by arrangement.

Job description

In this position you will work closely with architecture students in the design studio courses. Together with your colleagues in the team, you will assist in the content development and organisational preparation of the semester. You will supervise students and assess their projects and also participate in post-production of the semester’s outcome. In cooperation with the other team members, you will help to develop and prepare seminar week trips, preparation of publications, support work for lectures, etc. Depending on interests and needs, you may also assist in research tasks.

Profile

  • Msc., MArch or equivalent degree in architecture
  • Experience in architectural practice or architecture education
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Respect and responsibility towards yourself and others
  • Strong interest in and identification with the ethos of the Chair (see our website for further details). Ideally you share an interest or expertise in architectural heritage, sustainable construction and/or an intersectional approach to architectural design
  • Good German language skills, teaching experience, and/or a familiarity with the Department of Architecture at ETH are advantageous but not required. The working language of the team is English
  • Availability to work on site at the Hönggerberg Campus, since presence with students is required
