About the job

• Lead the Department of External Relations and Statistics professionally, personnel-wise, and financially
• Develop and implement the medium-term development strategy for the department
• Advise the municipal council and city president on issues relevant to external relations
• Build, plan, and implement strategic representation of interests towards the federal government, canton, and relevant partner organizations
• Maintain and further develop networks and partnerships with the federal government, canton, and agglomeration municipalities
• Coordinate and promote neighborhood participation in the city of Bern
• Initiate and coordinate events and networking formats to position the city of Bern

• Tertiary degree in economics or administrative sciences, political science, law, or an equivalent qualification
• Several years of leadership experience in an administrative environment with proven competence at the interfaces between administration, politics, and business as well as good networking in the political environment of the canton of Bern
• Charismatic leadership personality with high sensitivity to political contexts and understanding of data- and evidence-based management
• High competence in strategic project management and in shaping change processes
• Innovative, empathetic personality with good communication and negotiation skills
