Laboratory Technician in Fundamental and Translational ENT Research
The Department of Surgery is seeking, within the framework of the interdisciplinary TANDEM project funded by ISREC, a laboratory technician in fundamental and translational research at a rate of 80% to 100%, for a one-year renewable fixed-term contract. The desired start date is January 1, 2026, or as agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Cancer Research Laboratory of the Otorhinolaryngology and Cervico-Facial Surgery Service conducts fundamental and preclinical research on head and neck cancer, with national and international reach. It also supports clinical research through its dedicated technologies and infrastructures.

The TANDEM project, in collaboration with EPFL, aims to develop a minimally invasive endoscope for intraoperative analysis of surgical margins and lymph nodes in the treatment of ENT cancers.
Mission
- You perform immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence staining, conduct microscopic observations, and participate in result analysis
- You culture tumor cells in 3D and maintain cell lines
- You participate in the planning and execution of microsurgery on murine models (tumors and lymph nodes)
- You process samples for NGS DNA sequencing
- You manage the laboratory logistics: stocks, orders, maintenance, quality and safety monitoring.
Profile
- You hold a higher technical diploma (ES) as a biomedical analysis technician or an equivalent qualification
- You have at least 1 year of practical experience with murine oncology models (LTK Module 1 or FELASA category B mandatory)
- You master cell culture and common cellular and molecular biology techniques
- You have experience in flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, DNA/RNA purification, RT-qPCR, and NGS
- You are proficient in French and have a good level of scientific English
- You are comfortable with common computer tools (Microsoft Office) and adapt easily to new software
- You demonstrate rigor, autonomy, precision, and have an excellent team spirit.
