The Real Estate Department is responsible within the Vice Presidency for Infrastructure for the real estate portfolio of ETH Zurich valued at around 5 billion Swiss francs. On behalf of the ETH Board and the Executive Board, we ensure that the required space resources and building infrastructures for ETH Zurich are provided in a timely and economically sensible manner.
For the team Finance and Controlling we are looking for you as a committed and competent Finance & Controlling employee (m/f/d) starting January 2026 or by arrangement.
Job description
You take on coordinating and operational tasks in various controlling, planning and reporting processes as well as in credit management and are particularly co-responsible for the following tasks:
- Operation of credit management (from opening to closing including ensuring the quality of credits and processing credit closures)
- Planning (rolling forecast, budget, medium-term planning) and control of the main cost items of the Real Estate Department
- Financial reporting for various internal and external stakeholders
- Master data maintenance (buildings, creditors) in the construction project management tool
- Further development and optimization of existing controlling processes, tools and systems
- Contact person and "business partnering" for employees and managers on financial issues
- Point of contact and interface for information-dependent functions within and outside the Real Estate Department
Your work creates the basis for the financial management of the Real Estate Department. You recognize and anticipate financial developments and continuously compare them with the target situation. You investigate deviations and support internal and external stakeholders with meaningful and target group-oriented reports and information. You operate credit management and thus support the department in handling its construction projects.
In addition, you actively contribute to projects and initiatives for the continuous development of the Finance and Controlling team and the Real Estate Department and support the further development and optimization of existing financial processes with your know-how in data modeling and analysis.
Profile
You have completed a commercial apprenticeship and ideally further training with a focus on finance and controlling. The following skills complement your profile:
- You already have several years of experience in finance & controlling, preferably in the real estate industry, and are familiar with the pitfalls and challenges in project business
- Proficient handling of ERP solutions (ideally SAP), software for project execution and common office applications
- Experience in analyzing large data sets in Excel and with business intelligence tools (Power Query, Power Pivot, Power BI) is an advantage
The ability to communicate complex financial matters in a target group-oriented manner rounds off your profile.
