Team Leader Care in Night and Weekend Service (80 – 100%) Temporary, Uster

Caritas Switzerland has been operating asylum centers for families, individuals, and unaccompanied minor asylum seekers (MNA) at five locations in the canton of Zurich since February 2024 on behalf of the cantonal social services (KSA). As the team leader in night and weekend care, you will lead a dedicated team and be responsible for the personal and age-appropriate care of unaccompanied minor asylum seekers at night, on weekends, and holidays at the MNA center on Aathalstrasse in Zurich-Uster.

Your Tasks

Team Leadership

Professional and personnel management of the MNA residential group team
Staff deployment planning
Participation in the recruitment of staff
Compliance with working hours and occupational safety
Preparation and execution of meetings with the team, including case discussions and staff interviews
Promotion of the professional development of staff
Delegation of tasks and responsibilities to the team
Representation of the residential group to internal and external parties
Maintaining open, transparent, and appreciative communication

Support for Young People

Support and care for minors in various everyday matters during the night and on weekends
Ensuring an orderly center operation and a good atmosphere during the night and on weekends
Co-responsibility for conflict resolution and management
Recording and passing on information to the day team, ensuring the handover between night and day service, reporting of events or special incidents
Regular rounds to maintain night rest
Polite and respectful interaction with minor asylum seekers in a role model function

Our Requirements

Several years of leadership experience
Experience in the migration sector and/or youth work is desirable
Strong leadership and communication skills
Good German language skills, knowledge of other foreign languages is an advantage
Intercultural competence
Willingness to work variable hours
High sense of responsibility and duty
Initiative and independence
High resilience, stress tolerance, and assertiveness
Good Microsoft Office skills
Impeccable character
