The Office for the Environment is committed to careful handling of the environment and sustainable use of natural resources. The Soil and Material Cycle Department is responsible for enforcing environmental protection regulations at waste facilities, contaminated sites, soil protection, agricultural construction projects, material extraction sites, as well as road and hydraulic engineering projects.
We are looking for an
Environmental Specialist for Infrastructure Projects (m/f/d)
Starting January 1, 2026, or by arrangement
Workload: 80-100%
Workplace: St. Gallen
What to expect
- Independent processing and assessment of building applications and environmental impact assessments for road and hydraulic engineering projects as well as material extraction sites
- Review of projects regarding environmental and water protection regulations (soil protection, air quality control, noise, vibrations, substances and chemicals, major accident prevention, waste, contaminated sites, groundwater protection, and wastewater disposal) and ordering necessary measures
- Consultation of applicants and project authors
- Participation in the implementation of the environmental protection concept on construction sites
- Consulting and training of control bodies and municipalities
What distinguishes you
- Completed engineering degree (construction) or equivalent education, ideally with further training in the environmental field
- Several years of professional experience in the construction industry or related sectors
- Independent, structured, and reliable working style
- Service-oriented, strong communication skills, and solution-oriented in dealing with stakeholders
- Team player, flexible, and confident in using digital tools
