Biomedical Analysis Technician at the Pre-Analytical Laboratory
The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DMLP) is offering a position for a biomedical analysis technician for its pre-analytical platform.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The pre-analytical laboratory (LPA) handles the reception, preparation, storage, and provision of biological samples collected within the framework of the CHUV Genomic Biobank (BGC) as well as for national cohorts (HIV, transplantation). The LPA also manages samples from CHUV research projects or biobanks for which it is mandated.
This platform ensures the steps of reception, pre-analytical processing, DNA extraction, quality control, live cell isolation, aliquoting, and storage of collected samples.
As a biobank infrastructure, the LPA has obtained the NORMA and OPTIMA labels from the Swiss Biobanking Platform, which respectively guarantee the quality of operational processes and the implementation of a quality management system. Additionally, the platform follows the ISO15189 standard reference.
Mission
- You ensure the execution of the processing of samples collected for the BGC, cohorts, or research projects
- You perform DNA extractions and quality controls (purity, fragmentation…)
- You participate in quality system management
- You contribute to the smooth running of the laboratory (infrastructure, equipment, and supply)
- You contribute to the medico-technical development of the platform.
Profile
- You hold a diploma as a biomedical analysis technician ES or an equivalent title recognized by the competent Swiss authorities (www.redcross.ch)
- You have experience or solid foundations in molecular biology (professional experience or training internship)
- You have a definite interest in computer tools and automation. Expertise in using automated "liquid-handling" platforms (Tecan, Hamilton, Beckman-Coulter, …) would be an asset
- You have good teamwork skills
- You demonstrate rigor, precision, flexibility, and autonomy.
