Part-time Librarian I (50%) at Locarno 1 Middle School Library

Class and annual salary (including 13th month):

6 68,456.-- / 107,475.--

Tasks:

• management and administration of the school library
• makes the library content accessible through precise cataloging using a transparent methodology and tool for users
• assists users in searching for media and information in the library
• handles lending to users to ensure proper use of the library
• manages subscriptions and magazines
• animates, in collaboration with teachers, and promotes the library as a meeting and exchange point with various initiatives: thematic reading proposals, meetings with readers/writers, etc.
• integrates information literacy into school teaching
• operates and supervises the enrichment of the school library collection (books, periodicals, other documentary material) with careful and targeted purchases according to user needs
• operates and supervises the revision of the school library collection to keep it current and aligned with user needs
• promotes and collaborates on cultural activities at the site

Requirements:

• SUP specialist in information and documentation, cantonal librarian diploma or BBS, or equivalent qualification
• adequate knowledge of computerized cataloging procedures (Aleph) of library collections
• excellent knowledge of Italian

Employment conditions:

• appointment or assignment: as provided by the Law on the organization of State employees and teachers of March 15, 1995 (LORD) and the related Regulation. Any changes in law concerning salary and organization are explicitly reserved
• working hours: 42 hours per week (for a 100% employment rate), flexible or according to service needs
