Security in Graubünden, for residents, holiday guests, congress participants, and travelers, peace and order for all. This is ensured by the cantonal police officers. Day and night, year-round, in all weather, on mountain passes as well as highways, in cities and countryside, in mountains and valleys. They are always ready everywhere for assistance, rescue operations, investigations, crime fighting, and prevention measures. The focus is always on people. Within the framework of the "Kapo GR 2025+" strategy, the promotion and development of employees, a future-oriented organization, and the continuous optimization of core processes are paramount.
As the new police commander, sought due to the upcoming retirement of the current position holder as of April 1, 2027 or by agreement, you will assume overall responsibility for the cantonal police. It is important to tackle forward-looking approaches to current police-related challenges in leadership, prevention, and digitalization. In this role, you report directly to the head of the department.
Your area of responsibility
- Personnel, strategic, and organizational leadership of the office
- Development and implementation of strategic and operational goals of the police service
- Representation of the office externally (comprehensive authority to issue orders and sign within the office's area of responsibility)
- Close operational cooperation with partners at international, federal, cantonal, and municipal levels
- Leadership of the police command staff during special events in extraordinary situations
- Responsibility for the enforcement of federal and cantonal legislation within the area of responsibility
What we expect from you
- Strong communication skills, high social competence, familiarity with modern leadership and management methods, good business knowledge, and confident demeanor.
- University degree (Master) or another higher education as well as further training in leadership
- Extensive professional experience in senior positions in policing or public administration
- Experience in managing complex projects
- Digital affinity and future-oriented thinking
- Knowledge of another cantonal language is an advantage
