At the Office for Military and Civil Protection, around 140 employees at the locations Zurich, Birmensdorf, and Andelfingen jointly make an important contribution to the safety of the population.
The military administration of the canton of Zurich, with its four sectors, is the contact point for all military service personnel residing in the canton of Zurich. Within the framework of the cantonal co-responsibility for the army, it takes on important tasks in contact with conscripts and army members from the orientation day to discharge from military service as well as in extracurricular activities.
Due to the retirement of the current position holder, we are looking for a Head of Military Administration / District Commander as of July 1, 2026, or by agreement.

Your tasks
- Management of the Military Administration Department and the District Command of the canton of Zurich and leadership of the subordinate areas with 22 employees
- Implementation of laws, regulations, and directives of the military system within the framework of cantonal responsibilities
- Execution of discharges from military service as well as other occasions
- Participation in expert committees of the federal government and the cantons
- Maintaining contact with federal, cantonal, and municipal authorities in all areas of military service obligation as well as with military commands and associations
- Representation of the canton of Zurich at military and public events
Your profile
- University or technical college degree or equivalent education with several years of professional and leadership experience
- Commander at troop level or staff officer
- Citizen-oriented and communicative demeanor, good manners
