Monty
Gender: male
Age: approx. 2002
Breed: Domestic short hair/black-white
Neutered: yes
Character: The stately tomcat has been with us for a long time. We named him Monty, and he was neutered and microchipped by us. After initial great reserve, Monty can now even be petted occasionally. He does not get along well with other cats and apparently does not need their company. He behaves very reserved towards strangers. Monty needs a bit more time and patience in his new home until he settles in.
The ATs has been serving animals in need for over 140 years, operates its own animal shelter, and is involved in various projects. In 2008, the "Cat Group" project was founded, which cares for numerous cases of ownerless, feral, and unneutered cat populations. This group handles about 180 cat cases per year and arranges for over 600 cats to be neutered or treated by a veterinarian. It provides assistance with problems, is on site for various operations to catch cats and bring them to the vet. The cases are steadily increasing. Therefore, we are looking to strengthen our team immediately with animal-loving, flexible employees
Don Camillo upon entry

Requirements: For the tomcat Monty, a single place with kind and understanding cat people is sought. After an adjustment period, he definitely needs regular outdoor access.

Various animal species, a real cutie. But the ladies?
Numbers are important but alone do not say much. In addition to the numbers, we want to convey some informative impressions about our work. Our 2014 annual report should be comprehensive and impressive. We believe: this proves the necessity of ATs in animal protection work in our canton.
The new four-part series has set itself the goal of providing much useful knowledge about the care of different domestic animals. From well-known to lesser-known species populate

How did it come about?
I heard from the two-legged that six of two different places now inhabit the most diverse living beings in our households. Some were simply left behind, and in others the owner died.

It is a sad truth: the tendency towards ever larger and more complex cases is increasing. Our animal protection officer tirelessly follows the reports, and we can handle many ourselves. Of the 379 animal protection cases, 263 were handled by us, and 116 forwarded to the veterinary office. We were also able to point out deficiencies to some owners and care for 1,840 affected animals: 261 dogs, 167 cats, 240 rodents, 76 birds, 54 horses and donkeys, 824 farm animals, 15 wild animals, 100 zoo animals, 103 reptiles and fish, an improvement was achieved. The second part is dedicated to the rabbit.
19th ATs Farm Cat Neutering Campaign: In 2014, a total of 459 cats were neutered.
(This campaign is carried out with the support of veterinarians. Many thanks!)
Meow and hello dear animal friends. If you have a headache from my story today, don't be surprised!
Additional capture campaigns of neglected cat populations
The holding of rabbits is by no means as simple as often portrayed. To feel comfortable, some requirements must be met. These include, among others, sufficient space, retreat areas, and adequate opportunities for activity. The height of the rabbit hutch should allow jumps and acrobatics. Rabbits regularly seek food during their activity phases. Herbs and grasses, roots, and bark belong to their preferred food. The digestive system of rabbits reacts sensitively to inappropriate feeding and the size of the animals must be taken into account. They live according to the motto "the cooler, the better," but rabbits do not like it too warm and direct heating air damages their respiratory tract. They inhabit the bird aviary, which is equipped with scratching trees and must be permanently available.
We help with:
Consultations about animals, clarifications in animal protection cases, behavioral psychological help with cats and dogs, conversations about animal surrenders, animal placements, and much more.
Often, out of ignorance, a rabbit is taken as a partner for a rabbit. This is not allowed according to the animal protection law. Therefore, at least two animals of the same breed must be kept. Rabbits should also be allowed to run freely indoors. The area must be large enough and offer sufficient opportunities for activity. The floor must have a lot of bedding material. The bedding material should be of good quality and generously used. It should differ from the usual grain feed and only be offered in small amounts. Please pay attention when buying rabbits that they are at least 10 weeks old.
Lost animals
2,680 reports were received by the cantonal reporting office for found and missing animals. In cooperation with STMZ, 1,011 found and 1,668 missing animals are registered. According to law Art. 720ff ZGB, found animals must be reported!
