Intern or Civil Service Worker Ecumenical Campaign, 100%, Bern
Since 1969, the aid organization of the Protestant Churches of Switzerland (HEKS) and Fastenopfer (AdC) have jointly organized an ecumenical mobilization campaign.
From 2025 to 2027, the right to food will be the focus of the campaign. In 2026, the emphasis will be on the right of farmers to exchange, improve, and sell their seeds. This seed diversity is crucial for food security, resilience to climate change, and the food sovereignty of farming communities.
In this context, we are looking for an intern or civil service worker for a period of six months starting November 1, 2025.
These are your main tasks:
- Preparation and accompaniment of campaign guests' tours from our partner countries (Cameroon and Niger) in Western and German-speaking Switzerland
- The visits take place in February and March 2026 (approx. 3 weeks per guest)
- Logistical and administrative organization: accommodation, transport, visas, planning of assignments, monitoring the schedule
- Support in organizing and conducting public and private events (schools, church communities, partner groups, etc.)
- Participation in raising public awareness and distributing campaign materials
- Oral translations (French to German) at public lectures: good translation and interpreting skills are expected
- Work in French and German, both spoken and written
Ideally, you bring the following:
- Higher education (vocational baccalaureate, students from the 3rd semester onwards)
- Excellent French and German skills (spoken and written)
- Confidence in simultaneous interpreting (FR → DE)
- Good knowledge of IT tools and social networks
- Strong interest in development issues, human rights, and North-South inequalities
- Organizational skills, independence, team spirit, and proactive working style
- Flexibility for travel to French- and German-speaking Switzerland during the tours (February-March 2026)
- Experience in event organization, advocacy, or campaign communication is desirable
You can expect from us:
- A paid internship in an organization committed to social and climate justice, international solidarity, and the right to food
- Varied, challenging, and concrete work
- A motivated, friendly, and committed team
- Much personal responsibility in work design
