Chief Resident or Deputy at the Cardiac Surgery Department
The Cardiac Surgery Department of the Heart-Vessels Department (DCV) at CHUV is looking for a chief resident or deputy chief resident motivated by high value-added missions for patients, with a workload between 80% and 100%.
The starting date is scheduled for December 1, 2025, or to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Cardiac Surgery Department, led by Professor Matthias Kirsch, is a center of excellence and innovation in cardiovascular diseases.
It provides cutting-edge services in adult and pediatric cardiac surgery, as well as in heart transplantation.
Thanks to its highly qualified professionals and state-of-the-art infrastructure, the department offers reference services in care, training, and research.
Mission
- You participate in the surgical program, under the supervision or delegation of the senior physician
- You ensure the clinical follow-up of hospitalized patients and contribute to therapeutic decisions in consultation with senior physicians
- You supervise and oversee the department's assistant physicians
- You actively participate in undergraduate and postgraduate training within the department
- You perform cardiac surgery on-call duties as well as cardiac harvesting
- You take part in the department's clinical and academic research activities.
Profile
- You hold a federal medical diploma or a title recognized by the Federal Commission of Medical Professions (MEBEKO)
- You have at least two years of experience in general surgery and a minimum of two years in cardiac surgery
- You master spoken and written French (minimum B2 level)
- You demonstrate dynamism, collegiality, and reliability, and show a constant desire for clinical and scientific improvement
- You are autonomous, curious, and organized, and can easily integrate into a multidisciplinary team thanks to your excellent communication skills.
