The Swiss Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired SBV is a self-help organization with over 4,600 blind and visually impaired members in
16 sections. The voluntary self-help activities of the sections are complemented by a nationwide, professional service offering. The Swiss Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (SBV) is the national self-help organization on the topic of visual impairment. Since 1911, it has supported blind and visually impaired people in their efforts to lead an independent and successful life in their profession and society. The SBV achieves this goal through counseling, training, and the promotion of innovative technologies as well as through public education and awareness.
In our counseling center in Chur, we offer services to visually impaired and blind people and their relatives in the areas of information, social counseling, and rehabilitation.
We are looking for an
Rehabilitation Specialist in Orientation and Mobility (O+M) as well as in Life Skills (LPF) 80%
Your tasks
- You advise, support, and train adults with limited vision in O+M and LPF.
- You promote their independence by providing aids, techniques, and strategies.
- You work interdisciplinarily with specialist offices, institutions, and self-help organizations.
- You raise awareness among specialized professional circles as well as the general public about the concerns of visually impaired and blind people.
- You advise institutions and authorities in the area of visually impaired-friendly design of public buildings and traffic areas.
- You regularly travel professionally throughout the canton of Graubünden and the Sarganserland region.
Your profile
- You have training in occupational therapy, curative education, social pedagogy, or related professions.
- Ideally, you are a trained rehabilitation specialist with practical experience in the areas of O+M and/or LPF. If not, you are willing to complete the specific specialist training (duration 3 years, basic modules in Switzerland, additional school days weekly in Hamburg).
- You work team- and solution-oriented and have good communication and didactic skills.
- You are used to working independently, structured, and resource-oriented.
- You are an open, integrative personality with high social competence.
