Nurse at the Medical Service of the Tuilière Prison
The Medical Service of the Tuilière Prison in Lonay is looking for a nurse at 60%, for a start date on April 1, 2026, within the framework of a permanent contract
Context
The University Hospital of Vaud (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in the fields of medical care, medical research, and education
The Penitentiary Medicine and Psychiatry Service (SMPP) meets all the health needs of the Vaud prison population. Its staff work directly within the penitentiary institutions and provide somatic and psychiatric consultations to detainees
Working in a penitentiary environment means operating in a demanding setting, at the intersection of somatic care, mental health, and community health, within an interdisciplinary practice promoting versatility and the development of specific skills
Mission
- You conduct health assessments upon entry for newly incarcerated individuals
- You provide emergency and somatic follow-up care
- You carry out evaluations of critical mental health situations as well as long-term psychiatric follow-ups
- You deliver prevention services, particularly regarding the risks of STI transmission
- You collaborate with other care institutions and reception structures within the framework of network work
- You organize and coordinate services in connection with penitentiary staff teams.
Profile
- You hold a HES nursing diploma or an equivalent qualification with mandatory Red Cross recognition for foreign diplomas
- You have several years of clinical experience
- Experience with migrant populations or patients suffering from addictions is an asset
- You demonstrate autonomy, a sense of responsibility, and good negotiation and interdisciplinary communication skills
- You adopt an ethical and non-judgmental stance regarding the judicial background of detainees
- You show great listening skills and an interest in social integration issues
- You have a strong interest in developing the quality of care in a specific institutional environment
- You reside within a distance compatible with a maximum 30-minute commute and hold a driving license.
