Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta's hiring team is looking for an onsite Shift Supervisor – for the production facility in Muttenz.
As a Shift Supervisor, you lead the shift and ensure efficient production of products while complying with applicable HSE guidelines. You act as the operational manager of the 7/24 production operation, including handling possible deviations and special cases (accidents, incidents, quality deviations, personnel issues).
Your tasks:
Personnel:
- Assumes direct leadership responsibility for the shift team. This includes personnel and vacation planning, performance management, and employee development.
- Identifies training needs and initiates, supports, and if necessary conducts (HSE-/SOP-/product-specific/technical) training in cooperation with the training managers.
- Ensures continuous development of the shift team members.
- Intervenes correctly and unambiguously when needed and in any case of regulatory violations.
Safety:
- Is responsible in a leading role for compliance with standards regarding occupational safety, process safety, health, and environmental protection during the shift.
- Acts as a contact person and responds thoughtfully to incidents, disruptions, or accidents. Informs and reports incidents, disruptions, or accidents, initiates necessary immediate measures, and reports accordingly.
- Implements preventive measures to avoid incidents, disruptions, or accidents.
Quality:
- Ensures compliance with quality standards during production processes, preparation and execution of cleaning processes, and the use of equipment.
- Recognizes and reports quality deviations in a timely manner and initiates necessary immediate measures.
- Implements preventive measures to avoid deviations.
Improvement / Productivity:
- Proactively participates in problem-solving and ensures resolution. Optimizes target achievement regarding quality, quantity, and delivery service; identifies and supports measures to improve the performance of the process unit.
- Is responsible for cleanliness and order in the operation, including processing maintenance orders and compliance with 5S rules.
Coaching:
- Acts as a knowledge carrier on the shift (processes, process technology, equipment, and products) and as team support for monitoring, starting up, shutting down, rinsing, and cleaning the equipment.
- Supports and promotes information flow within the organization and to external partners.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills:
- Diploma/apprenticeship as a chemical or pharmaceutical technologist in chemical and pharmaceutical production or an equivalent recognized diploma.
- 8+ years of professional experience in chemical-pharmaceutical production.
- Very good German language skills in spoken and written form, good English skills, (French is an advantage).
- Strong personnel leadership qualities and team motivation.
- Mastery of complex equipment and methods.
- Ability to meet deadlines and schedules even under pressure.
- Stress resistance.
- Flexibility regarding workplace and/or shift changes.
