Head of Theater Department Sector School+Culture 50%The Elementary School Office, together with partners in schools and communities, is committed to a high-quality elementary school in the canton of Zurich. School+Culture belongs to the Pedagogical Department. It promotes the cultural education and participation of students in the canton of Zurich. At the interface between the school and cultural fields, we review, mediate, initiate, and subsidize diverse cultural offerings.
We are looking for a specialist in the field of theater starting August 1, 2026, or by arrangement.
Your area of responsibility
As the head of the theater department, you compile an attractive, school-year-appropriate program of theater performances for schools and continuously develop it. You work with theaters, theater festivals, and the independent scene. You are also responsible for the touring project "Heimspiel." You act as an interface between the school and cultural fields, attend events, draft cooperation agreements, and manage your own budget area. Within School+Culture, there is close collaboration with the theater education department. In addition, you work across disciplines on other projects.
Your profile
We are looking for an initiative person with training and several years of professional experience in theater, especially in cultural mediation practice at schools. You work independently and autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team. You have solid knowledge in project management, enjoy writing well, organize and administer with pleasure, and feel comfortable at the interface between school, administration, and culture. To avoid conflicts of interest, simultaneous employment at a theater institution in the canton of Zurich is not possible.
