The Institute of Ecology and Evolution at the University of Bern (IEE) researches the diversity of life and the processes that shape this diversity and are necessary for its preservation. It combines basic and applied research on biodiversity, ecology, and the consequences of global changes. Through interdisciplinary approaches from molecular biology to ecosystem ecology, the IEE contributes to knowledge about the protection of ecosystems and a sustainable future.
For the team of the Central Services of the IEE, we are looking for two administrative clerks, including a finance specialist (see parallel job posting) and a human resources specialist.
Tasks
Independent management of personnel administration including development and control of the corresponding processes
• Personnel consulting, personnel administration, processing of promotions, teaching assignments, budgeting and management of personnel points for the entire institute, salary calculations, management of personnel files, hiring formalities, form processing, certificates, management of accident and illness reports
• Time key figures/time management, control of working hours and absences of the institute
• Administrative support of the third-year courses of the BSc Biology and the MSc Ecology & Evolution, coordination of events and exam dates, grade entry, creation of the timetable
• Administrative tasks/general correspondence, assistance with job postings, support of succession matters, administrative organization of events
Requirements
Completed commercial or comparable basic training, ideally with specialization in human resources, and experience in the area of responsibility
• Team-oriented, open, communicative, flexible, and resilient personality
• High service orientation with enjoyment in contact with various stakeholders
• Commitment to a diverse, fair, and inclusive work environment
• Structured, precise, reliable, independent, and forward-looking working style as well as initiative
• Very good German and English skills in spoken and written form, additional languages (especially French) are an advantage
• Experienced in computer use (MS Office programs), SAP knowledge is an advantage
