The Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland is one of the main clinical cancer research centers in Switzerland with many years of experience in designing and conducting clinical studies.

Finance and Contract Manager (50%-70%)
IOSI is one of the largest clinical cancer research centers in Switzerland. The main clinical research areas include the development of new drugs (phase 1 clinical studies, including first-in-human), lymphoproliferative diseases (lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia), genitourinary, gynecological, breast, lung, skin, and gastrointestinal tumors.
IOSI has a dedicated Clinical Research Unit (CRU) that coordinates and manages the different types of clinical studies conducted within our Institute: interventional studies (from phase 1 to phase 3), translational and observational studies, pharma-sponsored, academic, and investigator-initiated studies.
We have an excellent history of collaboration with non-profit academic organizations and the pharmaceutical industry. Particularly relevant are collaborations with the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK – Swiss Cancer Institute), the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR), the Institute of Biochemical Research (IRB), and the translational laboratories of the EOC. We also play a central role in the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Italian Switzerland (USI).
Responsibilities:
The financial and contract manager of the CRU is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects and contractual agreements of clinical trials. The main tasks include:
- Ensuring the accurate development and review of budgets and contracts for clinical studies and handling reports and negotiations with sponsors
- Ensuring correct billing and reporting of services and activities related to clinical trials
- Creating and managing a new workflow for the financial management of the CRU
- Managing the financial resources of the CRU in collaboration with the EOC Finance Controller and under the supervision of the CRU Chair
- Promoting the development, implementation, and digitization of efficient processes for contract management and financial administration.
- Monitoring and analyzing financial data related to clinical studies, providing periodic reports to the CRU Chair and the Medical and Scientific Director of IOSI
- Collaborating with the legal team, Data Protection Officer, and financial team to identify and mitigate financial, contractual, and data protection risks associated with clinical studies
- Understanding financial principles, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Negotiation skills for budgets and contracts
- Knowledge of clinical studies and their conduction and management methods, ideally including regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practice guidelines
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with various stakeholders (researchers, sponsors, CRU team members, other EOC collaborators)
- Teamwork orientation
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and knowledge/experience in developing efficient workflows
- In addition to Italian, excellent knowledge of English
- Strong IT skills
