The apprentice production mechanics process metals, sheet metals, and components. They assemble the components into devices, apparatuses, and machines. For this, they read manufacturing documents and technical drawings. They prepare the necessary work tools. They complete their orders and projects precisely and independently.

Production mechanics mainly work with metals such as steel, stainless steel, or aluminum. They master the following processing and joining techniques: drilling, turning, milling, grinding, screwing, riveting, and gluing.
