The Bern Historical Museum is one of the most important cultural history museums in Switzerland. It is a growing repository of knowledge and experience for the culture and history of Bern and the world. The collections on history, archaeology, and ethnography comprise around 567,000 objects. They offer insights into living environments from different historical periods and cultural contexts. The integrated Einstein Museum places the life and work of the physicist in the context of world history.

We offer from April 1, 2026, a nine- to twelve-month 

Internship in the Program Department (Events and Mediation) 80–90 %

You want to apply the theoretical knowledge you have acquired in your studies in practice and support us in challenging and diverse event and mediation projects? Specifically, in this internship, you will assist with the following tasks:
  • Conceptualization, planning, and execution of events and festivals
  • Conceptualization, research, design, and implementation of mediation offers for different target groups
  • Conceptualization and implementation of exhibition projects
  • Research work of various kinds
  • Various administrative and organizational tasks
Our internship announcement is aimed at people with a completed degree in a collection-specific subject of the Bern Historical Museum or in museology, scenography, mediation, communication, or social sciences. In addition to a strong interest in culture, cultural heritage, and museums, you have already gained initial work experience in the cultural or event sector. You enjoy organizing and coordinating, but also enjoy analytical and conceptual work. You are curious, like to acquire new topics and skills, and think creatively. In the team, you are appreciated as a committed, proactive, and reliable personality. You have a high level of text proficiency in German and very good French and English skills. Applications from native French speakers with very good German skills are especially welcome.
