About the job
Training Dispatcher at the Control Centre Olten (Start August 1, 2026)
During the six-month training to become a dispatcher, you will first acquire the necessary expertise in theoretical training blocks. This is complemented by training on modern dispatch systems as well as visits to customers and partners. Afterwards, you will apply your knowledge in practical deployment at the Control Centre Olten: You will be accompanied by an experienced dispatcher who will guide you step by step into your new area of responsibility and support you in your daily work. This way, you will learn to reliably dispatch our heavy freight trains throughout Europe.
You keep an overview of the entire train traffic of SBB Cargo International from the Netherlands to Italy and monitor, control, and coordinate the trains on the assigned network from the control center, communicating with team colleagues, train drivers, and other control centers. In case of an incident, you react safely and quickly to restore normal operations. Additionally, you take care of transport administration – an important part for safe production and correct billing with our customers.
This describes you: You have completed a vocational apprenticeship and are ready to work in a three-shift system (including weekends and holidays). You have business fluent German skills. Additionally, you bring Italian and/or French skills or are willing to learn them alongside the training (English skills are an advantage). Furthermore, you are strong in communication, enjoy working in a team, and have good IT user skills.
Besides an exciting, challenging, and international work environment, you can expect a strong, lively, and intercultural team. SBB Cargo International also offers you diverse development opportunities, participation in language courses, attractive employee benefits, and a 2nd class general subscription.
