About the job
Lawyer Resident Affairs 80 - 100%Are you looking for a challenge in the colorful environment of the cantonal administration, an employer with topics as diverse as life itself? Do you want to contribute to the resident affairs of the Canton of Zurich?
Then we should get to know each other, because we are looking for a colleague as a lawyer in the Resident Affairs Department 80-100% starting February 1 or by arrangement until December 31, 2026.
The Resident Affairs Department supervises the resident services in the performance of their registration law tasks as well as in the management of their resident registers. It is also responsible for the Cantonal Resident Data Platform (KEP) and tasks in the area of register harmonization. As part of these activities, it supports the municipalities with information and advice. We work with heart, mind, and hand - and a pinch of legal passion.
What to expect
To provide relief during a maternity leave, we are looking for legal support who enjoys clearly structuring complex issues, finding pragmatic solutions, and keeping an overview in everyday life - even when the files are a bit thicker.
You will be responsible for preparing and carrying out the application process for connecting data recipients to the KEP. The legal review of applications and the preparation of orders as well as supervisory activities in the area of registration and resident affairs vis-à-vis the municipalities are also part of your duties. You provide specialist and legal advice and develop instructions and orders. You ensure that data protection requirements are met and participate in the training and further education of municipal resident services.
What suits us
We are looking for a trustworthy person who likes to work precisely, solution-oriented, and independently and uses their own scope of action. You can also present complex thoughts understandably and communicate appropriately to the context and audience. You make well-founded and timely decisions and have the courage to represent unpopular decisions. You can deal with uncertainties, are helpful, and actively participate in change processes. For this task, you bring a bachelor's or master's degree as a lawyer and ideally experience in public administration. Do you also have a sense of teamwork and humor between the lines? Do you enjoy using legal language in a way that people outside the legal field can understand? Then you are right with us!
What you can look forward to
Reliability, fairness, humanity, and openness characterize the Canton of Zurich as an employer. With us, you can expect a socially relevant, meaningful task and a small team with short (communication) paths. We cultivate a culture of open doors and collegiality beyond departmental boundaries in the municipal office. We work together on an equal footing - regardless of personal characteristics. Look forward to flexible working hours, the possibility of home office, and compensation for flexitime.
Application
Interested in this politically close function? Then we look forward to your application without a cover letter and photo. Please submit your documents by November 9, 2025, on our portal. We look forward to meeting you!
